On Wednesday, Lewis Hamilton completed his first laps at the Fiorano Circuit behind the wheel of a Ferrari, joined in the afternoon by Charles Leclerc. However, the fans present couldn’t resist asking the inevitable question: who was faster?
The Ferrari SF-23 roared back to life at Fiorano for the first laps of 2025, with Lewis Hamilton as the main star of the day, accompanied by Charles Leclerc. The Maranello tests aimed to help the Brit familiarize himself with the “Prancing Horse” after many years with Mercedes. In the afternoon, it was Charles Leclerc’s turn, completing 14 laps.
Leclerc’s response
After completing 30 laps at Ferrari’s historic circuit, Lewis Hamilton greeted the fans on the bridge who had been waiting all morning for that moment. He wrapped up his three-hour test session in the late morning while Leclerc watched from the garage. Hamilton hit the track at 9:16 AM, and Leclerc’s session began at 1:50 PM. The Monegasque driver only managed 14 laps in the rain of the Modenese lowlands, under the watchful and affectionate eyes of all the fans present.

Leclerc’s reply was marked by his usual kindness and calm demeanor, often making people forget he’s a Formula 1 driver and not just an ordinary 27-year-old. “I was driving in the rain; I gave it my best!” A fan then shouted back, “Even in the rain, you were the fastest!” Leclerc laughed in response. It’s clear that Ferrari’s number sixteen still holds a special place in Maranello fans’ hearts, despite the arrival of a monumental figure like Lewis Hamilton.
